I don't think it's meant to give you total crits so you can rely on it and win with it, I think it's meant to give added incentive to push and you'd likely win without it anyways. The player is meant to say "well, no better time to push than now while I've got the best odds!" like bro what else you gunna do? go home?

I like random crits because it leaves me unsure as to what will happen in a given interaction.

Worst is that veterans and competitive players then joins the server and matchmaking puts you up against them . I get they don’t have place to play casual but unfortunately that is sacrifice for begin best you just can’t play casual anymore since you ruin it. It’s like when a champion fights against local players and is surprised that they hate it

i did a lot of investigating into this, since like 2018, I started tf2 in 2014 during the "new player wave" but i had known about it since release during this era when tf2 added random crits, it was because they needed to stand out more as a *stylistic* shooter, to maintain its user base what i mean is, counter strike is where they wanted serious competitive players, and team fortress 2 was where they wanted the goofy, or chaotic players to flock to during this era, there was not many good fps games. and with the emerging popularity, tf2 had to stay relevant. there was a divide, many players hated random crits and never stopped complaining. however, what was forgotten is the fact that the people who loved random crits were the majority of the players. nobody knows this fact because the players that enjoy random crits dont really talk much about it, its just another fun aspect of the game to them, players who complain about what they dont like are always the loudest. this later evolved into the simpiest soft pastey boy things ive ever seen, such as......................auto macro messages apologizing for when they get a random crit. these newer players actually believe that the community as a whole is against random crits, and have formed the logic "he beat me with a crit, but i would have won because i am more skilled. random crits are not skill based". there are many deadlocks, many close calls in this game. anything can swing a game not just crits , but for all these years, the game has remained well balanced aside from kinda crappy matchmaking have you seen what high end matchmaking looks like? the things you have to do to increase your kd in cod for example, the matchmaking is so good its almost become spawn kill die spawn kill die, (i know, some of you are pretty good and know all the methods, but you get what i mean) im just worried, because the masses , the bandwagons, the ignorance, and the refusal to accept new information. the main issue in all mainstream communities. ill end this with saying, I mentioned i looked into this for years. what i mean to say is, the vast majority of players who complain about random crits, havent been playing tf2 as long as me......they dont know what it was like before crits. and are mostly just raging on hormones

The bandaid fix dosn't seem to have been of help. Ability to set a minimum ping floor alongside the already existibg ping cealing limiter. Allow for parties to be split up in search. Or better yet, not pre-asign people to teams, place them all in spectate, and let people figure ut out themselves Don't drag me back into a casual match, if I am trying to join a community server, from within a casual match, I had that auto-join window open for a reason. Allow for Spectating players again. Allow for couching to be doable again in casual, even if it is just on the active server, if ad hock is out of the question. Bring back map timers, the extend maptimer vote, and team scramble vote. Add rounds to ctf maps so that a single round compleation dosn't end the match. Remove max number of rounds, let the maptimer decide, along with a minimum round limit of 2.

The old demoknight was fun to play as, but way too OP. It was not fun to play against. The charge reduction on damage and more precise crit requirements were definitely needed! One of my friends used to do (the old) half-zatoichi + tide turner a lot, making these insane chains. It was fun to see unfold.

as a scout mein the pbpp's heal is still super busted, 27 hp matters to scout, even 10 hp for scout is huge. Scouts are always in the frontline or backline taking chip damage and the occasional clearn high damage hit, 10 to 27 hp is huge for us

just here to say that uhhhhh, competitive tf2 has made a lot of components of the game very non-fun. I really enjoyed being able to 1 shot medics with a slow, single use, self damaging demo melee, and as a medic getting hit by it it was funny as hell to watch demos fly through the sky for the perfectly lined up explosive kill, the obvious solution for competitive was just, "ban it" but no now we have the poopoo caber

In the old system, playing with friends worked just fine. If you're just 2 or 3 friends, you can switch teams over the course of a match. When there are more, you just get split up into two groups meaning you are simultaneously playing with and against your friends, which is the best of both worlds. So yeah, don't reserve slots for friends in the same team, just let people switch teams on the fly. This works fine for Uncletopia, which is basically the only way to normally play TF2 at the moment by the way.

I've been playing tf2 (on and off) for over a decade. t is striking how dedicated tf2's userbase is, despite the neglect and mistreatment. We all appreciate this incredible game and simply want to play it. You'd think this could be bettered, and would be. But it isn't.
